KI1U/VE9IU Home Page
First licensed in 1988, I was bitten by the DX bug immediately. Ten meters was hot! Day and night DX was up and down the band. The years went on - college, career, marriage. Wherever I ended up, though, I always made it a point to get on the air. That is the point of the license isn't it?
In 2010 I experienced DXpeditioning for the first time when I had the chance to operate from Curacao as PJ2/W5MPC. I was there when PJ2 became a new DXCC entity and the thrill of the pile up was like nothing I ever experienced. Since then I've had the chance to operate from the Azores (CU7CRA and CT8/KI1U), Mexico (XE3IARU), Canada (KI1U/VE9), and Barbados (8P9IU and 8P8T). I have more expeditions planned.
My style of DXpeditioning has focused on a blend of experiencing the place I visit and plenty of time on the air. Unless I'm going someplace exceptionally rare I don't see the point in missing the experience of being in a new or exotic locale. I have been able to see many fascinating places and make many new friends in these travels. If you hear me, work me! If you don't hear me, I'm probably playing tourist.
On this page you will find information related to the next expedition; QSL route, operating plan, dates, etc.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you in the log.
